Huawei Honor 7X Review

Huawei Honor 7X is a recent addition in the Huawei smartphone family. The phone comes in two variations – 32 GB model that costs INR 12, 999 and the 64 GB model that costs INR 15, 999. There are three available colours to choose from – black, blue and gold.

The phone comes with a hybrid SIM card slot which means, you can either use 2 nano SIM cards or 1 nano SIM + 1 micro SD card. Huawei Honor 7X supports VoLTE.

You can buy these models from Amazon with no cost EMI (between 23 Dec and 29 Dec). Let us take a look at the what the mid-range phone has got to offer.


Starting from the top, he Huawei Honor 7X has a noise cancellation secondary mic, the volume rockers and the power button on the right, 3.5 mm audio socket, micro USB charging port, primary microphone and a speaker at the bottom, a sim tray on the left and dual cameras and a finger print sensor at the back.


The Huawei Honor 7X comes with a 15.06 cm (5.93 inch) display and has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 px. This mid-range smartphone has a 18:9 aspect ratio that gives you a wider and better view which is very convenient while playing games and watching movies.

Huawei Honor 7X has a dimension of 156.5 mm (L) x 75.3 mm (W) x 7.6 mm (T). Though Huawei claims this phone to be an edge-to-edge display, yet it is not completely edge-to-edge like the iPhone X and we could only say it has a high screen-to-body ratio.


Huawei Honor 7X has a dual rear camera (16 MP + 2 MP) setup and has a 8 MP front-facing secondary camera. The dual camera set up uses PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) technology which helps in speeding up the focus-time on the subject.

According to MSIGeek, though PDAF speeds up the focus time, yet it is not suitable for low luminance photography.

Huawei Honor 7X offers burst mode and captures 20 images in one burst sequence. The phone also allows you to shoot slow motion and time lapse videos.

Additionally, Huawei claims that the portrait mode lets you to capture artistic photos.

Processor, OS & RAM

Huawei Honor 7X uses the Kirin 659 octa core processor (4 x 2.36 GHz + 4 x 1.7 GHz) and ships with 4 GB RAM. The phone ships with Android 7.1 and runs on the EMUI 5.1. With Android 8.0 (Oreo) already launched on August 21, 2017, this phone ships with a slightly outdated OS.


Huawei Honor 7X is available in two variations – 32 GB & 64 GB model. The phone offers a hybrid SIM card slot and supports a maximum of 256 GB memory card.


Huawei Honor 7X comes with 3340 mAh battery. The phone has a dedicated battery status indicator which alerts you with red, orange and green colors depending on the percentage of charge on the battery.

  • Huawei’s EMUI offers twin app feature that let’s you to use the same app with two different logins without logging out, the other account.


  • This phone may not be great for low lighting photography.
  • The 18:9 aspect ratio is not supported on all Android apps.
  • Huawei Honor 7X doesn’t support fast charing. I got it confirmed from Huawei’s support via Live chat.

Note that we can expect Huawei to ship the Android Oreo update to Honor 7X soon and this is confirmed from Huawei’s official forum.
